Meeting the demands of the new National Heavy Vehicle Driver Fatigue Regulations and the differing State and Territory implementation is ESSENTIAL for small to large Transport Operators.
From 29 September 2008, the new National Fatigue Management regulations commence, however a number of regulatory variations exist between each State and Territory. The current regulations have expanded to include a broader range of smaller trucks and buses than previously. Penalties will increase more than ten fold for failure to comply with these fatigue regulations.
For standard fatigue management, any company involved in the supply chain, who uses a truck or truck/trailer combination with a GVM of > 12 tonnes, when working between 0km and 200km outside the driver’s base (NSW is 0km, QLD is 200km, 100km all other States and Territories). For standard fatigue management, it is also mandated that any bus that seats over 12 adults (including driver) when working between 0km and 200km outside the driver’s base (NSW is 0km, QLD is 200km, 100km all other States and Territories).

Electronic Work Diary
(e-Diary)
The e-Diary provides jurisdictions with the essential records for review and inspection. Transport Operators can use this information in real-time for managing their drivers & fleets.
The driver activities and vehicle location are updated by our telematics unit every 10 seconds, resulting in a real-time work diary.
Jurisdiction Work Diary Access
Access the e-Diary easily through a simple web interface via a PDA style mobile phone.
Ease of access means:
- A jurisdiction officer intercepting a vehicle for inspection can review up to 28 days of driver activities, including the latest trip. The officer has the ability to enter their name & ID and email the complete work diary in PDF to a predefined jurisdiction centre.
- A driver can enter trip notes such as road blocks, no rest centre found and other comments at the time of incident as well as approve their daily logs.

Simple Driver Operation
Complex Fatigue Management rules are implemented with a simple two button wireless Digital Input Device (DID) which incorporates a secure unique identification number that is issued to each driver.
All a driver needs to do is press either a W – for work activities or an
R – for rest, and when a Jurisdiction officer intercepts the truck for inspection, a record of the intercept duration is generated.
